A Question About a Poem

In my poem "Requiem" (see Birth of a Poet) would it change the tone of the poem if it were read as a response to the end of a romance?

The conflict definitely comes through, so that wouldn't be a surprise. It's a bold poem. It's interesting the way a poem just pushes its way out.
